Google has launched Gemini 4 Argon, its newest frontier AI model. It is built for difficult, multi-step work such as coding, finance, legal analysis, cybersecurity and science. This guide covers what Argon can do, how to start using it, what each plan includes, and what it costs.
What is Gemini 4 Argon?
Argon is the first model in Google’s new Gemini 4 family. Google says it is made for deep work on complex problems rather than quick chat replies. It ranks first on the Vals Index, a benchmark covering areas like finance, coding, legal and tax work. Google says more Gemini 4 models will follow.
Key features of Gemini 4 Argon
Stronger coding and engineering. Inside Google’s coding platform, Antigravity, Argon helped Google teams raise agentic code submissions by more than 35% and cut code rollbacks by nearly a third. It also helped refactor a huge part of Chrome’s code in weeks instead of months.
A 1 million token limit. Through the Gemini API, Argon supports a unified input and output limit of 1 million tokens, so it can keep working on very large tasks.
Clearer writing. Google says Argon answers more directly, hedges less, avoids repeating itself, and follows style instructions better than earlier Gemini models.
Business and professional workflows. It can read complex documents, analyze data and work with images. In the Gemini app, Google showed it turning a folder of project files into a client proposal deck, emailing it, and setting up a scheduled task.
3D, games and visual coding. Argon is better at spatial reasoning and visual code, and Google’s demos include 3D scenes and playable games.
Science and research. Google reports uses in quantum computing, fusion research, rare disease genetics and enzyme design. It scored 87% on a robotics reasoning test (ERQA).
Safety. Google says Argon is better at refusing harmful requests, takes fewer unauthorized shortcuts when working as an agent, and resists prompt-injection attacks well. Verified cybersecurity defenders can apply to the Fairwind Program for expanded access.
How to use Gemini 4 Argon
- Everyday users: open the Gemini app or AI Mode in Google Search. You need a Google AI Pro or Ultra plan.
- Coders and builders: use Google Antigravity, Google’s agentic coding platform. Pro includes entry-level limits and Ultra includes higher limits.
- Developers: use Google AI Studio or Android Studio with the Gemini API on the paid tier. The model name is
gemini-4-argon. - Businesses: use Gemini for business, the API, or Antigravity.
- Scientists: Google is giving 10,000 scientists free access to Antigravity’s highest usage tier for 6 months. Applications are open and selection isn’t guaranteed.
